A little-known part of Torrey Pines State Beach is the Torrey Pines Extension, which sits across the salt march from the state park.  It's got some wonderful trails, and up on the bluff on one of those trails this Torrey Pine was just standing there asking to be painted.  This was a fun painting to create - besides my common process of a brushed background with palette knife and fingers for the foreground, I carved a small stamp out of an eraser that I used for the pattern of the needles.
